Rated to 2.5 kN (500 lbf), Instru-Met’s Capstan Grips are engineered for high-accuracy tensile testing of twisted cords, braided lines, elastic tapes, and other flexible specimens. A self-tightening spiral groove design distributes stress evenly, minimizes slippage, and eliminates jaw breaks.
Sample diameters from 0.02 to 0.125 inches (0.5 – 3.2 mm) are supported, with an operating range of -100°F to 600°F and a ½-inch clevis pin mount compatible with most standard testing machines. Optional smooth capstans are available for delicate or non-abrasive materials.
